With those words he pushed up from the floor getting right up close to me. Hell, what did he think he could do to me? He was a quite a great deal shorter than me, and I could put up quite a fight. Raising his hands, he pushed me backward with a flick of his wrist. I took a step to recover my balance, before shaking my head with a smug grin. He didn't know what he was getting into.

"I'd watch it, if I were you."

I replied smugly, my eyebrows lifting in a mock grin. I shook my head at him, pushing against his shoulders and stepping forward, set on getting him to the ground, and beating the shit out of him.

Eli let go of my hand absently, getting up from his place against the wall and pushing Heath backward with both hands. I bit the inside of my lip until it began to bleed. Ah, hell, this so was not happening again. Quickly I stood up, stepping beside the two of them, putting my hands against Eli's shoulders. I tried to catch his gaze, my eyes pleading him not to.

Hell, I knew what Heath was capable of. It wasn't like Eli wasn't able to defend himself, but Heath was... it was like he had no conscience. Like he would have no regrets over something that would drive anyone else insane. And honestly, I didn't even want to know what Heath had in mind for Eli.

"Eli.. let's just go. Please."

I whispered to him, trying to hold his gaze, but finding it difficult. It was as if I couldn't break his attention from Heath. If I could only stop one fight between them.. it could mean stopping a hell of a lot more.

Heath boomed, raising his eyebrows nonchalantly. Really. That was the best he had? Hell, Heath wasn't even trying to beat me. "Eli... Lets just go. Please." Ava's argument was a little more persuading, her soft eyes meeting mine as the tears started to creep back into her eyes. I figured she was doing her best to keep them from surfacing.

Heath reminded me of the Cocker Spaniel I'd owned when I was young - trembling with excitement with any chance he got. Only, there was one thing different about Heath... Instead of panting with adrenaline when he was preparing to go fetch a ball, to have food poured into the bowl sitting beside him. No, he was ready to fight. Ready to beat my ass.

The thought only made Ava's offer sound even more enticing. We could cut class, go back to my apartment... I could talk to her, be there for her, because I knew something horrible had gone down between her and Heath. If she didn't want to tell me, I was fine with that, but... I figured it was time to talk.

"You know what, Heath... Forget it." I turned to Ava, suggesting with a soft raise of my eyebrows that she come back home with me. It would be better. For everyone.
