BEST MEMORY - It was seventh grade, I remember it really well. I was thirteen, and in an awkward phase in my life. Nobody liked me, and I always ate lunch alone. Until the most popular girl in school asked me to sit with the cool bitches. It was amazing. After that, I was that sexy, popular girl everyone wanted to be.

In Seattle, we had a fairly small house, that suited the four of us. I was never the most popular girl in class, until that middle school incident. Ever since then, I've been super-popular. So, that really helped my social life. But, at home... Things were different.

When I was only six years old, my eight-year-old brother Landon was killed. He and my father were out riding motorcycles... He was pretty good at the time, too. But, his bike's tire was caught. My dad was devastated, and so were the rest of us.

I gulped, as if trying to swallow that emotion that had been building up. A lump rose in my throat as I felt her fall limp. My best friend was dying in my arms. First Marina, and now Allie. I killed the two best girls on the planet. The thought was unbearable.

Looking down once more, making sure she was gone for good by now, even though I knew she was, I rose. The room was spinning, and for a moment I thought I might fall faint. I closed my eyes, frozen here until I could get my thoughts in order. I touched my chest softly, trying my best to regulate my breathing.

A wave of dizziness swept over me as I started to walk, but I ignored it. I stepped cautiously into the men's room. I slipped inside, slumping against the wall. As I hit the ground, I reached into my pocket. There was a drawing compass, of all things, that I'd saved for math class. I stared at it for a moment, running my fingers along the sharp edge that was made to fit a pencil. It was perfect. With trembling hands, I traced it along my wrist.

Because of me... Everyone I cared about was gone. Because of me. Drawing in a ragged breath, I put pressure on the blade, dragging it against my flesh slowly. I saw the blood pool on the ground beside me, which was a little disturbing, but I didn't care. There were more important things to deal with.
